Food in 100 Days at Sea: Hunger, Fishing, Seafood Slices

Updated 2026-09-02 · Roblox 100 Days At Sea

The short version: eating any food refills your hunger bar. The cheapest way to never starve is a crab trap feeding a pizza oven: 3 of any food item becomes 8 seafood slices, and each slice gives back about a third of the hunger bar. Chowder (cooking pot, 3 any food) and alien soup (food processor, 5 any food, refills the whole bar) are the two foods you can carry in your inventory instead of the sack. The Anglerfish cannot be killed: it only appears at night, hunts players outside the bonfire's limits, and an Angler Flare makes it passive for roughly 10-15 seconds (the wiki's Entities and Weapons pages disagree on the exact number). The fisherman's trades go in a fixed order every game, starting with Fish Filet for a Crab Trap and ending with Swordfish Steak for a Swordfish Spear (full list below).

How hunger works

Food is an item type. Players eat it to regenerate the hunger bar. Drain rate, what happens at zero, and per-item values are not documented yet. What is documented:

  • Most food can only be dragged around or put in a sack. Only a few foods (chowder, alien soup) go into your inventory.
  • Food comes from fishing, crab traps, entity drops, loot on islands, machines (cooking pot, pizza oven, food processor), trees, and items floating in the water.
  • Seafood slices give back about 1/3 of the bar; alien soup gives back the entire bar. No other per-item value is listed.
  • Rescued survivors press crab traps and toss food into the cooking machines for you.

Fishing and the fisherman quest

The fisherman's island spawns about 50 m in front of your base every game. Two Buku warriors guard him. Kill both, press the fisherman, and everyone in the server gets a fishing rod. The hut on the island unlocks too; its chest always gives a dinghy (see boats).

He then trades from the end of the pier. The order is the same in every game, and each player can complete the list separately. This is the "ascending order" people search for:

Cooking: crab trap, pizza oven, cooking pot, food processor

StructureCostLimitWhat it does
Crab Trap8 metal, 12 wood3Periodic seafood farm; press it for food after a few seconds
Pizza Oven10 metal, 30 woodUnlimitedTurns 3 any food into 8 seafood slices
Cooking Pot3 metal, 5 wood3Turns 3 any food into chowder (inventory item)
Food ProcessorFree after Glorbus task1Turns 5 any food into alien soup (inventory item, full bar)

The recommended early chain is crab trap, then pizza oven, then eat or feed the cooking pot. A slice counts as 0.375 of a food item, so 8 slices are worth 3 food, i.e. exactly one pot batch of chowder, which is why the wiki calls pizza the cheap way to make chowder. Cooking your first chowder unlocks the "We Cookin" badge. Costs come from the crafting table. Snorflord (1,000 base HP) also drops a pizza oven in a purple chest.

Alien soup and Glorbus

Glorbus is a fat green alien on one of the alien islands, summoned with the transponder that drops after an alien raid (nights). Feed him 20 of any food item and he explodes, dropping a food processor (free in the crafting table, max 1). Survivors throw every food item in base into the processor, so only place it if you are happy eating nothing but soup.

"I hunger for..." squid islands

These are the golden-tablet islands that lead to the Ancient Squid boss (bosses). The statue's inscription tells you what to feed the golden cuve:

InscriptionWhat to put in
"I hunger for [food item]"1 of that exact food, most often sushi, fish and chips, fish filet or jelly
"I hunger for that which forges steel"5 of any metal item (metal armour counts)
"I hunger for that which feeds fire"5 of any wooden item (wooden armour counts)

Items vanish when placed and the tablet appears. Search the island first (sushi is sometimes lying on it, and wood islands usually have trees to cut), otherwise fetch the item from base or fish for it (RNG, can take a while). Community-reported, unconfirmed: a shortened inscription such as "sandwich" is said to mean the matching seafood item (Fish Sandwich).

The Anglerfish

You cannot kill the Anglerfish. It appears every night, disappears at morning, and chases living players outside the bonfire's limits. It bites when close, glitches your screen, can leave the water, climb islands and even fly into dungeons. It has 40 speed, so a jetski outruns it; slower boats do not.

  • Stay inside the bonfire radius; it leaves and hunts someone else.
  • Shoot an Angler Flare (fisherman trade #6, also from chests or MukuMuku): the fish is drawn to it and stays passive for roughly 10-15 seconds. It does no damage, so only fire one at a time and only when the fish is on you.
  • Carry a flare when raiding the cargo ship; the fish can reach you there.

The ice staff auto-targets it, which suggests the game treats it as an entity, but no HP and no kill are documented. The Kraken is a separate fight; see nights.
